I've heard that is a good drive. I haven;t done it myself yet though.

No, but I've been dying to try 130. That said, I believe it runs through a military base and sections may be closed during certain times, so you might want to look that up

Protip: if you want some awesome SoCal canyon routes, look up the SoCal Sportbikers on meetup.com. Even if you don't have a sportbike, Nick puts together the best rides and posts a Google map of the route.

I had done the S. CA stuff years ago, I don't have time to go down there I think. I am staying near SF right now so I was thinking of finding a few roads. I went up HWY1 to the Marshall-Petaluma rd. and it was a nice drive. Thanks!

I think that must be after I-5, there is an observatory on top of the hill and then I don't see anything on the map until I-5. I think there is a USNAS/hornets nest off I-5 somewhere, I thought it was inland from the road by Harris Ranch. I will have to check into it, it looks good as long as the tarmac isn't total shit, the 240Z is rather stiff.

As long as it isn't infested with bloody cyclists!

Gimmi, I just woke up the morning after writing that realize I was speaking of Nacimiento-Ferguson Road; like 130, it's a twisty-ass, long-ass east/west road here in CA. Sorry for the confusion.
BTW, now that you bring it up I'm totally planning my trip to 130

I will have to look at the other road as well, thanks. I actually prefer long sweeping roads in the mountains with occasional twists. I'm getting too old for the crazy rally driving!

Ah well, Hwy 9 is our best fast-but-with-corners road. Won't take you to the 5 though (will take you straight to the PCH though).

I looked that up, pretty tight in some rather guardrail-less areas! I'd be worried about other people driving badly more than anything. It appears to be on National Park property, they usually have slow speed limits and hungry rangers! Its so twisty I don't think I could go too fast in the Z at this point. I like to hear its engine, its very nice, on roads like this it basically stay in third and in very tight turns I get it into second for a moment. I tried another road like this, we don't have the disks on the rear yet so we might wait and do that first, it should be a lot better.

It gets back to 280, the 236 looks good, go down one way and come back the other. I will still drive those roads, I just won't get crazy anymore haha. That area looks good, I could make it there and back pretty easily from Marin. Oh and it connects to Skyline, this looks promising.

Ah 236, that's where I live. It's very tight and veeery bumpy, and also single-lane for a good portion.
You seem to have found the sweet spot though. 9, 35, 84... all of those... that's driving heaven

Not that I am aware of. The Z is not mine, my son in law owns it. Is that what you mean? English isn't my first language, did I do something odd in there, I will check!

Oh, I thought the "he" in the last comment was in reference to you. Godspeed Gimmi!

No, but I had a road race on Mt Hamilton once (it was painful, but a car would fare better). Great road.
